Student Opportunities

Study Abroad

We encourage undergraduate nursing students to take advantage of semester or short-term and independent study abroad opportunities through a School of Nursing-sponsored program or one of the hundreds of programs the Penn Abroad Office supports. With assistance from the Assistant Dean for Global Health, Nancy Biller, you may also be able to design an internship or fellowship in another country. 

Global Health Minors

For undergraduates, we have a six-course Global Health Minor designed to offer students a broad background in the field. We also offer a graduate-level Global Health Minor for full- or part-time graduate students and post-grads.

Global Health Courses

Whether you choose to minor in Global Heath or not, you can take courses with a global or international focus. Penn Nursing offers classes that include short-term abroad components. In addition numerous University courses are available.  

Nursing Students for Global Health (NSGH)

NSGH is a student-led organization that addresses health disparities both at home and internationally through outreach and study abroad opportunities. For more information, please contact us at globalhealth@nursing.upenn.edu. 

The Paul D. Coverdell Fellowship

We are proud to have a program for returned Peace Corps volunteers that offers funding for incoming students in the accelerated, direct-entry Master of Professional Nursing program or one of our eligible master’s programs.

 

Additional Funding Opportunities

Penn’s Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships (CURF) offers financial assistance to both undergraduate and graduate students for international study and research.
