Kara Dyer-Dombroski, MSN, RN
Kara Dyer-Dombroski, M.S., R.N., serves as Nursing Director of the Pediatric, Adolescent & Traumatic Brain Injury Unit at Blythedale Children’s Hospital. In addition to leading daily operations, Ms. Dyer-Dombroski focuses on improving patient safety and satisfaction by leading multidisciplinary initiatives that impact patients across the care continuum. She was selected to represent the organization at the Greater New York Hospital Association High-Reliability Organization forum, later implementing strategies learned to improve the culture of safety at Blythedale. She also serves the organization as a Crisis Prevention Institute instructor.
Ms. Dyer-Dombroski obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Russell Sage College and Master of Science Degree in Nursing at the Sage Graduate School. Previously
she worked at Albany Medical Center, where she held several positions, including Pediatric Critical Care Nurse, Clinical Nurse Specialist and Nurse Manager of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Ms. Dyer-Dombroski is past president of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Adirondack Chapter. She has nearly 20 years of experience in pediatric and pediatric critical care nursing and more than 15 years of academic experience serving as an Adjunct Professor of Nursing for Russell Sage College, teaching sophomore and senior-level nursing students in the BSN program.
