Charlene Eltman, MSN, RN, RN-BC

Charlene Eltman MSN, RN, RN-BC is the Division Director Clinical Informatics, North Region of Jefferson Health System in Philadelphia, PA, which includes the following Hospitals: Jefferson Abington, Jefferson Lansdale, Jefferson Frankford, Jefferson Torresdale, and Jefferson Bucks. She has a matrixed reporting to the SVP and CNIO (Chief Nurse Informatics Officer) enterprise and SVP and CNO (Chief Nursing Officer) for the North Region. In this capacity, Charlene oversees the execution of various duties focused on guiding and supporting the design, implementation, and evaluation of clinical information systems and other technologies. Charlene is Chair of the Enterprise Clinical Informatics Continuous Alignment Committee (CICAC). Co-Chair of Jefferson Health Ambulatory Information System/Operations Governance Committee.

Charlene started her career in Information Technology (IT) as a Senior Clinical analyst at Jefferson Health. She embarked on her career in healthcare, graduating with a diploma in Nursing from Frankford Hospital School of Nursing in 2001. She worked on various inpatient hospital units caring for a matrix of medical-surgical, telemetry, and trauma patients.

From 2012-2022, Charlene served as a Senior Clinical Analyst, Senior Clinical Informatics Coordinator, and Manager of Clinical Informatics at Jefferson Health. Prior to her roles in IT and informatics, Charlene worked as a Clinical Quality Care Manager, where she helped develop the comprehensive core measure program, including Congestive Heart Failure, Myocardial Infection, Pneumonia, Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP), and Stroke Quality Measures that ensured patients received evidence-based quality care and organization could qualify care. She has worked to develop health system-wide strategies to leverage information technology and improve integration across the continuum of care, enhance clinical operations, and improve quality and financial performance. She regularly collaborates with IT and operational partners to manage and coordinate the planning and execution of clinical informatics initiatives and program deliverables. Her primary mission is to enhance clinical practice and patient care delivery by leveraging technology to improve the quality and efficiency of care. Charlene earned a Master of Science in Nursing Informatics in 2020 and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2015 from Chamberlain College of Nursing. Charlene obtained board certification in nursing informatics from American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) 2021 and is Epic certified as a clinical informaticist. She is a member of the American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA).
