Whitney Roth, from Houston, Texas, is a senior in the BSN program. She discovered her love for nursing in high school while volunteering at a few local hospitals during her summers. At Penn, Whitney is the President of the School of Nursing’s volunteer organization, Community Champions, and is involved in her sorority on campus. Upon graduating with her BSN and a minor in Psychology, she plans to return to Houston and further pursue her interest in Organ Transplant nursing, which she discovered during her internship this summer.

The most memorable moment I've had at Penn Nursing so far is...?

The most memorable moments I have had at Penn Nursing occur during clinical while I am providing patient care. Being able to get to know and provide care to patients and their families is something I am very grateful for and look forward to doing every week.

Is there anything that you wish you knew before coming to Penn?

I wish I would have known to take advantage of more opportunities as a younger student as there are so many! There is no need to wait as professors and organizations are eager to help Penn students of any age.

What is something that you really like about your program of study?

I love all the opportunities I have as a nursing student at Penn. From being taught by some of the best professors in the country to state-of-the-art simulation labs to experiencing hands-on clinical skills at numerous Philadelphia hospitals I feel quite prepared to enter the workforce as a RN.

What's your favorite thing about your cohort and/or the community at Penn?

My favorite part of nursing is the community and family I have found in my cohort. I truly have made some of my best friends that I know will last long after college. While the nursing program is challenging, I know I always have friends and professors that I can lean on for support.
