Critical Care Concentration

Through intensive coursework and an eight-month clinical preceptorship, you’ll be equipped to deliver comprehensive assessment and management of acute physical health problems, as well as to provide education and consultation for families and health providers.

Experience

A minimum of one year full-time RN experience (post-orientation) in a pediatric ICU or pediatric cardiac ICU. Two or more years recommended. Neonatal ICU, progressive care units, ICU flex or float pools, and pediatric/neonatal transport experience do not meet this requirement.

Program Outcomes

Graduates are eligible to become certified by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as Pediatric Acute Care Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners (CRNP). Successful completion of the program qualifies graduates to apply for national certification from the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) as a PNP-Acute Care, as well as recognition, certification, and/or certification, and/or licensure by other states.
